Here are 5 pro tips to customize your Alexa experience :
Table of Contents
Whisper Mode
When you are having a down time or have some laid back activities planned to be in your personal zen mode, then to ensure that you don’t have to break your peaceful surroundings, you can simply whisper your command to Alexa, and Alexa will respond back in a quiet whisper.
To activate the Whisper mode, you can simply use the command, “Alexa, turn on Whisper Mode”
Do this the next time you are having your zen time and see for yourself how silence is truly golden.
Keep things moving with Follow Up Mode
Now, you can simply talk to Alexa like you are speaking to a friend. You don’t have to constantly say “Alexa” before every command. And to achieve this, you simply need to activate the follow-up mode and Alexa will respond to your commands, without repeating the wake words.
Once you have enabled this mode, you simply need to say “Alexa” once, and then the blue light indicator will stay on for a few seconds and you can start giving your commands to it.
For example, you want to set a reminder for doing your laundry, you can use the command “Alexa, remind me to do my laundry at 3pm today” and in this mode, Alexa will simply respond with “Okay, I will remind you at 3pm today”
To activate the Follow Up mode, you can simply use the command, “Alexa, enable Follow-Up Mode” or you can enable it on the Alexa App.
Keep it simple with Brief Mode
Using brief mode, Alexa can give you all the information you need, turn on and off the lights and even play songs with just a chime.
To activate the Brief Mode, use the following steps:
- Open Alexa App and head to the Menu.
- In the Menu section, select Settings and then scroll down to “Alexa Preference”
- Under “Alexa Preferences” select “Voice Responses”
- You will see “Brief Mode”, use the toggle to turn it on or off.
Alexa is safe for all ears, with Explicit Mode
When you have guests coming over, especially guests with kids, then you want to create the right and safe environment for them. And given kids increased interaction with technology, it is even more important that the devices are safe for them to interact with.
By using Alexa’s Explicit Mode, you can ensure that the not so family-friendly songs stay off your playlist, when the guests come over.
You can simply enable this mode in the Alexa App or use the command, “Alexa, turn on the explicit filter”
Now, you can have a family friendly gathering without any unwanted surprises.
Control Volume with Voice
While having friends over or even when you are having a solo party, you can set the dancing mood for the space, by just using a single volume command, Just tell Alexa to set the volume to a number between 1 and 10.
You can simply use the commands
“Alexa, turn up the music to 4”
“Alexa, turn up the music to 6”
And dance your way through the evening to your favorite playlist.
